Flagstaff Fine Dining Meets Modern Atmosphere

Our mission is to shift the mentality of the “normal” dining experience. We are an American shared plates restaurant in Flagstaff where food is meant to be enjoyed in a family style manner. Pastry Chef / Owner, Dara Wong, and Executive Chef, Tamara Stanger, hope to challenge locals and travelers alike to look beyond what they might consider typical “mountain town” food. Shift Kitchen & Bar aims to focus on bold flavors, a locally driven menu, and artfully composed plates served up amidst a casual and approachable ambiance.

Me and my better half went there on the recommendation of my daughter. I was amazed at the uniqueness of everything. I asked if it has been recommended for Michelin star. it was that unique and good. really wanted to meet the chef. but we had very little time. probably the best food I ate so far and most unique.

Their food is always amazing! The sorbet you have to get savory it intensifies the flavors 1000%! Most recently had their pork chop and it was so flavorful and tender and would highly recommend. The service is always quick and hospitable and friendly! They have a small, neighborhood calming ambiance that makes perfect for date nights!

Absolutely stunned! Amazing food, wonderful atmosphere. Will definitely be back! the whole staff was on point. very fun to have a little glimpse into the kitchen. very professional!

Food was insane, everything was so delicious and the service was amazing. They have quite a few fun cocktails on the menu too which all seemed very interesting. Our favorite meal of the night had to of been the elote agnolotti but I find their take on a ceasar salad to be very delicious, probably the best caesar I've ever had.

What wonderful people. We went for a special occasion and were greeted by a personalized Christmas card and the best/friendliest service I've ever had. The food is extraordinary, and they need to start bottling that porcini brandy, but it's the staff that make this place. I'm coming back every time I come through Flagstaff

Once a month Shift offers a variety of house-made pastries like croissants, danish, cookies, and cinnamon rolls. As well as burritos and assorted espresso drinks to enjoy in the morning. Each month a local charity is chosen to donate any leftover pastries.

Join Us on the First Saturday of Every Month from 8am – 11am

Each guest will be greeted by the Shift crew to share our morning favorites. Pastry Chef and Owner, Dara, started her career making breakfast pastries at Michelin star restaurant, Frasca Food and Wine in Boulder, CO. After opening Shift, she wanted to share her passion with the Flagstaff community. And so, the Bake Sale was born.

MEET THE OWNER / PASTRY CHEF

Dara Wong

Shift Kitchen and Bar and Oeno Wine Lounge Owner Dara Wong, a 2022 Young Athena Award Nominee, has a passion for pastry and a love for wine. As a business management graduate of the prestigious University of Denver, Dara boasts an impressive resume thanks to time spent alongside culinary legends such as Master Sommelier, Bobby Stuckey and James Beard Chef, Lachlan Mackinnon-Patterson of Frasca Food and Wine (Boulder, CO). She furthered her culinary knowledge as the Assistant Pastry Chef at Sweet Basil in Vail, CO. Prior to launching Shift in 2016, Dara served as the General Manager and Pastry Chef of Flagstaff’s own Tourist Home Urban Market. She then opened Oeno Wine Lounge in 2021 in order to continue her love for hospitality and her involvement in the Flagstaff community. A Division I swimmer for the University of Denver, Dara spends much of her free time with her wife Sierra at the gym, running with their pups, and hitting the slopes.

Is Shift a fine dining restaurant?

We like to think of Shift as fine dining without the formality. Our menu and cocktails are thoughtfully crafted, but the atmosphere is casual, approachable, and meant to be fun. Come as you are and settle in for a dining experience that’s a little different from the usual.
